Our Most Distinguished Guest

THIS IS IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!

On Wednesday November 1 at 5:30pm in the Judicial Institute (at Pace), we welcome Judge Robert S. Smith of the New York Court of Appeals. Free food and beverages for all. Please RSVP to Quintilia Luna, qluna@law.pace.edu, to make sure we've got your name down as attending; this is just for a count for food preparation. Let's prove to Judge Smith that Pace is a fine law school and prove to Dean Friedman that we are the best student organization on campus...bar none!

(As a bonus, you'll also get to meet this guy...the "First Son" of the Pace Law Federalist Society, my raison d'etre Alexander.)

Immigration Policy and Voting Rights Act Debate at Pace!!!

v.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have an amazing debate, our first this year, featuring Abigail Thernstrom of the Manhattan Institute on Wednesday Oct. 25 at 5:15pm in the Tudor Room. This is going to be phenomenal! Prof. McLaughlin is anxious and full of Red Bull. The fireworks are certain to be spectacular so don't miss this awesome event! Pizza and sodas will be provided. Of course it's VERY IMPORTANT that we have a good showing from our members, so don't miss it!

Another bonus this week is a visit by Prof. Margaret Stock of the US Military Academy at West Point. She'll be on campus on Tuesday night (Common Hour!) at 6pm in the Moot Court room in a panel for a CLE program entitled "Should They Stay or Should They Go?" This program will discuss pending legislation regarding immigrants. It is free for Pace Law students to attend. Just call Kathleen Carlisle at 914-422-4062 to RSVP. Prof. Stock debated at Pace last year on the Patriot Act and will be available before the CLE program to meet with our Federalist Society members for an informal chat. Contact Chris Rust at pacelawfederalist@hotmail.com for more info.

Columbia FedSoc event Friday!

This Friday Oct. 6 at 5pm, the Columbia Law Federalist Society welcomes Judge Richard Posner of the 7th Circuit for a speech on Domestic Intelligence. Judge Posner, of course, is one of the greatest living jurists not on the US Supreme Court bench.

This is a rare and excellent opportunity to meet such an important legal scholar similar to the likes of other great, yet never on the SCOTUS bench, judges such as Learned Hand and Roger Traynor.

I'm going to make the trip down to Columbia to attend this event and I welcome all of our members to attend as well. In fact, if we can motivate 10 or more of our group to attend, I'm willing to reimburse travel expenses from our groups funding. Please let me know if you do plan to attend; I'd like to contact the Columbia chapter to give them an idea of how many of us to expect. This is also a great opportunity to meet students from Columbia as well. Don't miss this awesome opportunity! Contact me at pacelawfederalist@hotmail.com to RSVP.
